The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston has set youth candidates for confirmation be in their 10th grade or older, and that the candidates "participate in the sacramental life of the Church, especially Eucharistic liturgies." At St. Maximilian Kolbe, the 2-year program can begin as early as 9th grade.

Students enrolled in Catholic school in 9th and 10th grades can move right into Confirmation Preparation in their sophomore year. Students who need Faith Formation as a pre-requisite for Confirmation can register CLICK HERE
To be eligible to receive Confirmation at St. Maximilian Kolbe, a candidate must be baptized, actively attending weekly Mass and participating in the Sacrament of Reconciliation/Penance. Additionally, candidates are expected to:
Must be in 10th grade or above.
Must have completed at least one High School level Faith Formation with good attendance.
Must be currently enrolled in Faith Formation with good attendance or attend Catholic School or participated in an official Catholic Homeschool program.
Must register in Confirmation prep.
Must attend two retreats:
Retreat Dates and Formats are still to be determined at this time.
Parents and students are responsible for arranging for the Confirmation candidate to attend retreats with other parishes if they are unable to attend the St. Max retreats.
Must participate in service projects or ministries- fewer than 35 service hours requires an exception.
Must attend the Confirmation Preparation classes and complete make-up assignments if missed.
Parents or sponsors should attend the 8 Confirmation classes listed, rehearsal and Confirmation Mass.
Must be in a state of grace for the sacrament (Reconciliation, as needed).
Pay the $30 Confirmation Class fee.
We are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the fall. The preparation for Confirmation in 2024 will begin in October , 2023.
